The alien symbiote that tried to take over Spider-Man's body and mind may have its own spin-off movie in a not-too-distant future! Scriptwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have spilled the beans in a recent interview given to Sci-Fi wire:"We've written two drafts of Venom, and the studio has it, and they're pushing forward in whatever ways they push forward."

No word about the story would be linked to Spiderman 3 or Spiderman 4..
I am glad that Hollywood is showing some interest for the supervillains! But according to the rumor, the Venom movie would kind of tame down the character's evilness to transform him into an anti-hero who becomes a defender of the innocent... That's blasphemy to my viewpoint, but I guess it would make the spin-off Venom movie more palatable to a larger public. But then I'd like them to fast-track the development of this Venom movie, but that probably won't happen...
I heard that Director Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) is in talk to rewrite the script and to direct this Venom movie.
So maybe if we keep praying every day, this Venom movie will finally happen!
